    Hej,

If you have Djurmagazinet in Kalmar they can usually order them easily. Gabuns cost between 120-200 kr. You usually get juveniles. It is important to know that all Gabuns for sale are caught in the wild !!! Gabuns haven't been successfully bred in captivity yet.

Have you kept filterräkor before ? Do you know how they need to be fed ? What size has the aquarium that you want to keep them in ? Please read through the following thread. It shows you how to create a species-specific Filterräkor aquarium:

I will put up new photos today. If you have any questions regarding flterräkor, just ask.

    Hej!
Jag har ett 97 liters akvarium, med ganska mycket växter och en hel del gömställen. Jag har aldrig haft filterräkor förut, men äter dom inte alger? Har tänkt mata med algtabletter, men är det något annat man ska mata dom med?

97 Liter is okay. Remember that the Gabuns will be around 14cm when they are fully grown so they need a lot of space. They are also group animals and you should keep at least 3 of them. As the name already says they feed by filtering the water for food. To do that they need a reasonably strong cirkulation in the aquarium. What is important is that you need to have a cirkulationspump in the aquarium WITHOUT a filter function. If the water is filtered and clean, they have nothing to eat and will starve to death. They need a lot of small particles in the water. Young Gabun who do not find enough food when they filter the water will wander through the aquarium, waving their filters over the floor to pick up food. The problem is that this behaviour destroys their filters. Since they are young, they still change their skål often and so they can replace the damaged filters. But older Gabuns don't, so when their filters are destroyed by picking up food from the floor they will starve to death slowly.

It reallly is important to remember that.

    - You need a strong circulation in the aquarium
    - Little or no filteration of the water
    - You should feed filterräkor 2-3 times per day; very small (!) amounts of dustfood. Ideally you mix the food with a bit of aquarium water and then drop it with a long pipette directly before the filtering animals in the circulating water.

Honstely, I think you should wait with the Gabuns and see how it goes with your körsbärsräkor first. Gabuns are no räkor for beginners :-)

I have a question did you get them to spawn or is that only in brackish water?

They spawn in freshwater but the larvae need brackish water to develop. So far only two people in the world have manage to breed them in captivity.
